Design Outdoor Kitchen With Bbq Coach Modules
Design Tips

Think of your outdoor kitchen as an outdoor room that is an extension of the
inside of your house. By keeping your outdoor kitchen close
to the back door you will use it a lot more than if it is located off in a distant
corner of your yard.
It is always nice when you do not have far to carry your hamburgers, etc and can
go back and forth intot he house quickly.

Try to have your outdoor living room/ dining room close to the outdoor ktichen so that
you keep the party together all in one area. You don't want the chef all by there self cooking
and the rest of the group having fun elsewhere.

Put the grill down wind from where your guests will sit so that smoke does not
blow in their face.  Try to position the island so you do not look at the back of the grill
from your house.  Do not have anyone sitting directly behind the grill since it is hot, and
smokey.

If you plan on using stone veneer you will need the counter top
to overhang the stone.  With stone veneer use flush mount doors that
will fully open, the sun premium double doors with shevles will hit the stone.

Put all of the cooking appliances on one end if the island
and the sink/fridge/ ice bin in the other end.

It is best to have 12-18" of counter top space on each side of your appliances
for serving platters and cooking untensils.

FRAMING WITH GALVANIZED STEEL STUDS

Do not use wood (a fire hazard) or interior galvanized studs that are sold at
Home Depot and Lowes.  Interior galvanized studs are
too thin and do not have enough galvination to hold up for exterior use.
We receive pictures each year of people who used wood showing  wrought
and now have  to  rebuild their island with  steel framing.
Use self tapping screws with pan heads that have thin heads and almost flush
with the framing.

Use a square to keep the corners and cutouts at all 90 degree angles.
Do not use dog ears for any support members. This is not correct construction
and shown in many photo's by contractors and diyers on the internet.

Try to frame spacing of appliances and accesorries so thay they are symetrical.

Most doors and drawers, etc have an outside trim. Make sure to include
enough space between items so that these trims do not over lap.

We highly recommend you use the Bbq Coach system and avoid costly
mistakes that will create problems down the road.

It is always best to buy all accessories from the same brand so that the
hardware and finish will match.  Make sure stainless steel is 304 grade.

TIPS:
Grills: 4 burner most popular size approx 30"
5 burner or larger for entertaining
propane grills - never position a propane grill in direct heat like
under the grill. Heat can cause a dangerous explosion.
Locate your propane  in an approved propane enclosed drawer.
Doors below grill:
cutout width of doors = or less than grill cutout width to fit inbetween
the right and left grill studs. We have an advanced kit if necessary
but it is much easier if the doors fit between the studs. This also
applies to doors or drawers below a side burner or cocktail center.
