How Difficult is it to assemble Bbq Coach Rounded Frame Kits?
Until now rounded islands have been very difficult and very expensive to buy. The Coach has developed a new homeowner friendly kit for rounded bbq islands.
In addition to creating a very simple frame kit for the rounded section. The Coach went the extra mile to create a system that homeowners can use hardi backer cement board and not the expensive and hard to find perma base flex.
Bbq Coach is very proud to present America with our new rounded frame kits! We know you will be very happy with this incredible new product!

Q How Do I Order A Custom Size Module to fit between my post, colums, etc..?
A. At Bbq Coach we are happy to cut your module shorter in length for no extra charge. During checkout in the e store there is a series of questions you will have a chance to answer. One of these questions is regarding custom sizes. In this section you can list for example, "Make 8ft module 91.25" long" It is best no to change the depth of islands as your appliance may not fit or grill hoods can hit the backsplash etc. If you do change the depth on a module please note which appliances you plan to put into this smaller depth module so that we will know which appliance cutout kits need to be cut to smaller size. If you do not provide this information we will supply the standard size appliance kits and you may need to make a couple extra cuts, but it is easy to do as well.
Q. Can I Build An Island Around A Grill Cart?
A. Most difinitely YES. You can save $$$ since a grill cart has the doors, sideburner etc all in one unit. Bbq Coach has built many custom frames around grill carts. Grill Carts that are flat on the ends are best. You will need to order a straight module that is long enough for the grill cart to fit in along with extra counter top space on both sides. You will also need to purchase a grill kit. Find the grill appliance kits and click on the drop down menu to find the kit for grill carts. During checkout make sure to write in the comments section the length of your grill cart plus 3/4" wiggle room for extra space to push it into position.
If you take the wheels off you will need our grill cart platform kit. With the grill cart platform you can add sheets of cement board to shim up your grill cart to the perfect height with the finished counter top. When the island is complete make sure to add clear caulk around the opening so that water does not get into the island.
Q. Do I need to install cement board under the bar counter?
A. Yes, 1/4inch cementboard is always installed on the underside of all bar counters and also under any counter overhangs. This is to prevent children from swinging on the steel framing and cutting their hands. It also helps to keep critters out although they always seem to get in somehow anyway.
Q. In Bbq 101 DVD you installed concret pavers, what did you use to adhere them to the hardi backer countertop?
A. To adhere concrete pavers to the countertop I use thinset mortar for stone tiles found at the home depot tile department. It is sold by the bag and is mixed with water to a thick consistency. I then use a tile trowel to spread the mortar across the countertop just like laying tile.
Q. Are Pre Fab Bbq Island Delivered with a crane?
A. Most islands over 8 ft long need to be craned in to your yard. They are just to heavy and bulky to do otherwise safely. This cost may or may not be included in the high price at retailers. Save Money! Use Bbq Coach Frame Kits and avoid costly crane fees.
Q. What Stucco Should I Use and How Much Do I Need?
A. USE Bbq Coach Cement Board Stucco! It is the most forgiving for beginners. It can be hand troweled or sprayed on. A 5 gallon container is enough for beginners to do a 6-7 ft long island on all 4 sides. (approx 54 sq ft) Pros can just barely make an 8ft island. Pros apply a 1/8" thick coat and do not waste material by dropping it on the ground. You will also need 1 gallon of HB1C Adhesive that paints on before applying HB1CS directly to the cement board without metal lath or a scratch coat. 1 gallon is enough for 2 buckets of stucco
Q. What brand of cement board should I use?
A. Perma base has a 10 year limited warranty for all states across America.
Hardi Backer has a 10 year limited warranty for select states like CA, AZ, Texas, etc...
Q. What gauge framing does the 2012 Grizzly Bear Frames use?
A. 20 Gauge G60 Steel studs and track Made In The USA!
